Dream of Omnimaga (C) 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2008, 2009 Dream of Omnimaga https://djomnimaga.music-2000.com LLLLLLLLLLLL Introduction LLLLLLLLLLLL This is a version of the game that introduced the Illusiat series, adapted for the TI-81. The goal was to attempt at fitting the original 2001 version on the TI-81 from 1990 that got discontinued in 1997 to see if it would fit in its limited 2400 bytes of RAM. It has been ported to the TI-82/83/+/SE/84+/SE calculators in 2008 and on the TI-85/86 in 2009 for those who don't own a TI-81 but still want to see how it looks. Since 2001 there have been 3 versions of Illusiat released, including this one. The first one was my first released RPG ever. The second one was an enhanced remake utilizing Illusiat 12 walking, battle and menu engine as well as some ASM libraries from The Reign Of Legends 2. It came out in 2003 in a bundle called Illusiat 2004, containing remakes of the 4 first Illusiat RPGs in the series, with bigger and more complex maps, improved storyline, added level-up system for the two first games, which didn't used to have one, new magic spells and a lot of major changes. This new 2008 version of Illusiat is based on the very first version ever but this time for the first TI graphing calculator ever released. Maps are similar to the first game and the graphics aren't as good but there have been some improvements in some areas, most being inspired from the 2003 remake included with Illusiat 2004. This is also the hardest version of all. Because this version of Illusiat was designed for the TI-81 calculator, it had to be split into multiple files to save as much space as possible, taking all 37 sub-programs slots available. However, the TI-73, 82, 83, 83+, 84+ (including both Silver Edition models), TI-85 and TI-86 port was merged into 8 sub-programs, taking a little more space, especially on the TI-85 and TI-86, but making it easier to browse the PRGM menu, since on these models you can fit much more data. Because TI's first calculator ran at 2 MHz, some adjusting had to be made to emulate the original speed as much as possible for animations, but it is not perfect and you may notice some minor slow downs during non-animated parts of the game, especially on the TI-86, due to the merging of several program routines together. Don't worry though, it should still give you an idea about how Illusiat looks like on a TI-81 calculator. Also keep in mind that due to the different screen resolution, the TI-85 and 86 versions will look slightly different. Damage points and statistic numbers will always appear out of the original screen area, as the Disp command aligns variable content to the right of the screen. LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL Installing and running the game LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL -First make sure you have enough RAM to run the game. Unlike the TI-81, other TI models use the user RAM for temporary data storage, meaning even if the game takes roughly 4 KB you might want to keep 5 KB free for it. Make sure the calculator is also in fullscreen mode, not Horiz/Split Screen (go in the MODE menu to change this setting) -If you use a TI-73, send the ILLU81.73G file to your calculator. If you got a TI-82, send the ILLU81.82G file to your calculator. If you have a TI-83, send the ILLU81.83G file, if you have a TI-83+/SE/84+/SE send the ILLU81.8xg file to your RAM (or archive then ungroup), if you got a TI-85, send the ILLU81.85G file and if you got a TI-86, send the ILLU81.86G file. -Afterward to play the game you must run prgmILLUSIAT from the PRGM menu. *NOTE: If you use the TI-85 or TI-86 version, the first time you run the game it will take a long while to load (about 30 seconds) and the first battle will take about 20 seconds to start up. Afterward it will go fine (unless you open the main prog or battle prog in the PRGM editor, in which case it will cause the same 30 second loading to occur again afterward)* LLLLLLLLLLL How To Play LLLLLLLLLLL When the title screen appears you are prompted to choose 3 options: TI-81,82,83 & 84 TI-85 & TI-86 ┌────────────────┐┌─────────────────────┐ │LLLLLLLLLLLLLLL ││LLLLLLLLLLLLLLL │ │ ILLUSIAT 81 ││ ILLUSIAT 81 │ │LLLLLLLLLLLLLLL ││LLLLLLLLLLLLLLL │ │ ││ │ │C2008 OMNIMAGA ││C2008 OMNIMAGA │ │ ││ │ │1NEW 2SAVE 3END ││1NEW 2SAVE 3END │ │? ││? │ └────────────────┘└─────────────────────┘ To start a new game type the digit 1 then press ENTER. To continue from the last location type 2 then ENTER. To quit type 3 then ENTER. Controls will be pretty much like that during the entire game, except when text appears you may have to press ENTER to continue. Do not select 2SAVE if you are playing for the first time else you will get an error. After the intro where you are pursued by monsters the ground will break under you and you will land into the Ruins Of Behemoth, which you will have to escape to finish the game. Like in the original TI-83 Plus version of Illusiat, released in 2001, you can't move around inside rooms, you move from room to room. The difference is that due to the lack of a GetKey command on the TI-81, you have to move around by selecting the direction in the same way you selected options on the title screen or the same way you will do inside battles: TI-81,82,83 & 84 TI-85 & TI-86 ┌────────────────┐┌─────────────────────┐ │LLLLL LLLLL ││LLLLL LLLLL │ │ LLLLL ││ LLLLL │ │ LLLLL ││ LLLLL │ │ LLLLL ││ LLLLL │ │ LLLLL ││ LLLLL │ │LLLLLLLLLLLLLLL ││LLLLLLLLLLLLLLL │ │1< 2> 3^ 4V 5XP ││1< 2> 3^ 4V 5XP │ │? ││? │ └────────────────┘└─────────────────────┘ In the 2001 version of Illusiat there was no menu. However, in this version you can at least view your character stats. As you can notice there's a 5th option called "XP". This is where you can view your character LV (level), HP (hit points), MP (magic points), HP/MP CAP (the maximum amount of HP and MP you can have for your current LV) and experience points needed for the next LV. You cannot heal yourself there though. To move around on the map you just need to select the direction from the option. As you move around you will most likely run into a lot of monsters. There are chances that he attacks first. When it's your turn you can select between 3 battle commands: TI-81,82,83 & 84 TI-85 & TI-86 ┌────────────────┐┌─────────────────────┐ │MONSTER! ││MONSTER! │ │GOON HITS U ││GOON HITS U │ │HP ││HP │ │ 374││ 374│ │MP ││MP │ │ 458││ 458│ │1ATK 2LIT 3HEAL ││1ATK 2LIT 3HEAL │ │? ││? │ └────────────────┘└─────────────────────┘ In the original version of Illusiat there was only one magic spell and you had an infinite amount of potions. However, in this game potions were replaced with a healing spell that also takes MP like the lightning spell (although twice less) to increase difficulty. The MP required by both spells is also higher. LIT takes 20 MP and HEAL 10. Both first and second options deal damage to the enemy, although the second option usually deals greater damage. The 3rd option, as you already guessed it, heals your HP. Both magic spells have a different animation to illustrate its effect. When you win you receive experience points and when your total experience needed to level up reaches 0 you gain one level. In the original version of Illusiat, the first version automatically saved your progress without requiring you to save manually. This was later removed in 2002 and you had to go into specific rooms to save your progress, else, quitting the game would make your restart to your last save position. In the TI-81 version the progress is saved automatically anywhere. However, if you die in battle you have to restart at the beginning of the dungeon or right after the previous boss fight, your LV, HP and MP are restored to maximum but you lose all experience points earned for the next level. LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL Known Bugs And Problems LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL This game was ported to the TI-82/83/+/84+/SE/85/86 as it was on the TI-81 (despite some display differences on the 85/86 mentioned earlier) to make sure it plays exactly like it did. Because of this, you may encounter some problems caused due to the TI-81 restricted memory and TI-BASIC commands. -When you are prompted to select an option in a menu, if you press CLEAR everything above the "?" will disappear -Selecting an invalid option in battles (or a magic spell without enough MP) will cause you to skip a turn. LLLLLLLLLLL Disclaimers LLLLLLLLLLL -You may use the source code for this game as you wish, but please give me credits if you do so. -I will not be held responsible for any data loss, damage or problems caused to your calculator resulting from the use of this software. Use it at your own risk! -No animals were harmed during the making of this game. -No TI-81 were, either... except maybe maybe during a list editor glitch present in ROM 1.1 that occurs when the memory is nearly but not full, which can lead to a Mem Clear. No other calcs were harmed either.
